Remembering Innocence

Do I speak for all of you when I say, this is the year we lost all vestiges of innocence? Our dreams and hopes were alight with the almost certainty of our heroine breaking the ultimate barrier, and it was one she honorably deserved ( and still does).
When "audacity" reared its hideousness, we rallied, we collectively and cohesively cried out. We found OUR voices, even the ones who had been silent afore. We are in the throes of disbelief and anger all in one, and we have lost our innocence. Can we ever again throw ourselves onto the field of dreams? We have gone from blissful children cheering for our team, to watchdogs following what could be, disaster.
This is the time of year when we reminisce about our pasts...for we were once, sweet, trusting, children. We filled our days with gaiety and song and our nights with sweet dreams. I long for the age of innocence, when corruption in government, turbulence in our sphere of vision, and monetary woes were not a part of our vernacular. However, we cannot go back, and so we go forward. Perhaps we can experience a self-induced time out, and return to who we were. Here, in song, is the voice of an angel, Josh Groban.

Children sleeping, snow is softly falling
Dreams are calling like bells in the distance
We were dreamers not so long ago
But one by one we all had to grow up
When it seems the magic's slipped away
We find it all again on Christmas day

Believe in what your heart is saying
Hear the melody that's playing
There's no time to waste
There's so much to celebrate
Believe in what you feel inside
And give your dreams the wings to fly
You have everything you need
If you just believe

Trains move quickly to their journey's end
Destinations are where we begin again
Ships go sailing far across the sea
Trusting starlight to get where they need to be
When it seems that we have lost our way
We find ourselves again on Christmas day

Believe in what your heart is saying
Hear the melody that's playing
There's no time to waste
There's so much to celebrate
Believe in what you feel inside
And give your dreams the wings to fly
You have everything you need
If you just believe

Have a wonderful holiday and, BELIEVE.

No, we cannot go back. But we can do what you suggest, take a time out and carve out a place that embodies all that we believe in. This is what Kesey and the Pranksters did. They chose to not waste their time in trying to defeat Goliath. They built their own place, their own institutions, kept their eye on the dark forces when they got too close, and went on in spite of them.

I'm looking to my animals as the example and have founded the Canine Leisure Society: Napping and Relaxing our way to freedom.

Absolutely, Shtuey. What many do not realize is the magnitude of our lack of power, sorry to say. Perhaps I just need to say this, but so many bloggers (including myself) derive catharsis while hoping for an ear, an eye, an honorable mention. Though I included myself, I am long past the concept of gonzo journalism having any effect since we are so entrenched in the mire of swamp sludge; to expect that a grassroots movement (no matter how bright the people) can literally take a sledgehammer and break down the veneer of control is simply ludicrous. Disagree in droves, and I am not a defeatist, but this is reality. We are living examples of "The Truman Show." But, I'm hoping that Heidi's 51 % catches on. Natch, you have a role in it...cause you're the King. Elvis, who?
I envy your pups. I used to have two of them back when, and they do know how to keep the peace:) Did you say, nap? Oh, I just may be headed for one.
